Help! I need your help.
Anybody who knew a member of the South Windsor Seniors club (AKA Free on Friday) who has died, please let me know. For those of you with access to email, my email address is [email protected]. If you can’t send me an email, my phone number is 519-962-2963. A short call giving me the person’s name that died is all I need. I will post that person’s name on our website on In Memoriam. (In case you didn’t know, both my email address and my phone number are on the footer of each page of our website.) Please write or call me if you know about anybody’s passing or for any other reason, even if you want to say ‘Hello’ to someone. In any case, please be careful! The Health folks published a new personal risk mitigation tool that can be found by entering Health Canada Risk Mitigation Tool in any search engine. It’s really worth a look! It’s really important to stay the course and not give up! Most of us have been cooped up at home and most of us are fed up. Please be careful . . . Stay safe, stay well, get some fresh air if you can, and keep smiling . . . ‘til we meet again . . .

Yesterday we were going to hear from Ryan Thomas – that is, if we had a club meeting. Ryan is a Physiotherapist at the Western Ontario Sports and Rehabilitation Centre, so I guess he was going to tell us about his work there.
How is everyone? I hope you are all staying safe and well! So, just a week or two after we finally made it to Stage 2, Windsor, along with ten other regions in Ontario, will remain at Stage 2, while most of Ontario can go to Stage 3. I still say it’s too soon, but I guess we can’t stay locked up for ever. With Covid-19 out there, the outside world is a really scary place! What will it be like when we finally open up? Well, here’s what I think. With some businesses thriving, and some almost belly-up, it will be different. We can’t simply go back to the way it was before the pandemic. But a lot of things will still look the same; The streets will still be there. Traffic will still be about the same. But one thing is for sure: there will be a lot of empty buildings around, where the previous business went bankrupt. Who knows? Time will tell. Today I read in the Star that we had 22 new cases of Covid-19. That’s in sharp contrast with the record set in the US of over 77,000 in a single day, but it still is 22 people locally that have the virus! Please be careful, and . . . Let me start off by saying I was wrong when I said that I thought our meeting with Mr. Dilkens would happen, but it didn’t. Too few of us said we were interested, and we didn’t have enough questions.
The meeting was to take place using Zoom, a video app that has really come into its own with so many people locked up. It allows people to ‘meet’ virtually – face to face! A spokesperson was to ask our questions, on any topic, and Mayor Dilkens would respond to them. The good news is that the meeting might still take place! It’s only been postponed, to give us time to think of a few more questions. Then, given a few more people who want to participate, and a few more questions, the meeting may still take place. Time will tell . . . In any case, in the mean time, we have been very gradually and very carefully opening. Even Kingsville and Leamington, the last to go to Stage Two in Ontario, finally got there. So, the sidewalk patios are all open and full, and the streets are open! I wish I could say that business is booming, but it’s a start. Some say too soon or too early, but, again, time will tell . . . Hey, I saw a new phrase, or at least, a new contraction in the Windsor Star the other day – F.O.G.O.
