On Friday, if we had a regular meeting, we were going to hear Terri Davis Fitzpatrick, Coordinator of the Parade of Canadian Flags speak to us. Veterans’ Voices of Canada, Flags of Remembrance, is a Canada wide initiative to remember Veterans of the Canadian Forces.
Here we are, still at Stage 2, and I’m happy, still cooped up at home. This is our second house since Inge and I came back to Windsor. Just when we were all done fixing up our house on Felix, we had to move to the house where we now live because I couldn’t do stairs any more. So, here we are. I say happy and still cooped up at home, and I really mean it! Tonight, on the 6PM News, we saw pictures of all of the people on the beach at Grand Bend. Wow! There were hundreds of people crowded together on the beach and the next shot was of the Mayor of Gran Bend, concerned over the fact that there were so many people and that nobody was socially distancing or following any of the other recommendations given by our leaders. I guess I’m beginning to sound like a broken record! Even that phrase is a bit outdated – most kids now have never seen a record, let alone a broken one. But it’s more important than ever, that we stay the course, to follow all the recommendations – social distancing, hand washing, staying at home, and so on. It’s really important to stay the course and not give up! Most of us have been cooped up at home and most of us are fed up. Sooner or later Covid-19 will only be a distant memory. Things will be at a ‘new normal’ whatever that will be. The lights will go on all over the world . . . Please be careful . . . Stay safe, stay well, get some fresh air if you can, and keep smiling . . . ‘til we meet again . . .
